Patrick Wallace is an attorney in Whitfield Bryson’s Raleigh office.  His practice focuses on fighting for individuals and homeowners in complex litigation, including construction defect, mass tort and product liability.

Patrick attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he received his B.A. in Philosophy. During his time as an undergraduate, Patrick was an active member of the Navigators, an international, interdenominational Christian ministry, and led a high school boys’ discussion group at a local church.

After his undergraduate studies, Patrick earned his law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law.  While at Wake Forest, Patrick was a member of Moot Court, a regional finalist for the 2013 American Association for Justice (AAJ) Trial Advocacy Competition and a semi-finalist for the 2014 AAJ Trial Advocacy Competition.  In addition, Patrick was a part of Wake Forest’s Appellate Advocacy Clinic, where he briefed and argued a case before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and helped prepare an argument before the United States Supreme Court.

Patrick also worked as a law clerk for the Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation and for the North Carolina Department of Justice. Upon graduating from Wake Forest, he worked as a law clerk to the Honorable Catharine R. Aron, Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. Patrick joined Whitfield Bryson LLP in 2015.

Recent Practice Highlights:

  • 2020: Court appointed Co-Lead Class Counsel for Stewart v. Southwood Realty Company, in the Superior Court Division of the State of North Carolina. Class action case involving unlawful charging of eviction-related fees. Class Counsel reached a settlement for the class valued at over $7 million.
  • 2020: Court appointed Co-Lead Class Counsel for Rush v. NRP, in the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. Class action case involving unlawful charging of eviction-related fees. Status: Class Counsel reached a settlement for the class valued at $425,000.
  • 2020: Court appointed Co-Lead Class Counsel for Hargrove v. Grubb Management, Inc., in the Superior Court Division of the State of North Carolina. Class action case involving unlawful charging of eviction-related fees. Class Counsel reached a settlement for the class valued at $475,000.
  • 2020: Court appointed Co-Lead Class Counsel for Santiago and Thor v. Eternity Floors. Class Action case for members who purchased laminate flooring made in China. Status: settlement pending final approval.
  • 2019: Trial counsel in jury trial for FieldTurf Artificial Turf Marketing Practices Litigation, (Cook County Court, Chicago) Case deals with allegedly defective turf sold and marketed by the company and sold nationwide. Status: confidential settlement during trial.
  • 2017: Elliott v. KB Home Raleigh-Durham, in the Superior Court Division of the State of North Carolina. Class action case dealt with new homes constructed without a weather-resistant barrier underneath exterior siding. Status: Settled.
  • 2017: Outer Banks Power Litigation: $10.35 million settlement for residents, businesses, and vacationers on Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands who were impacted by a 9-day power outage.  Status: Settled
  • 2017: FieldTurf Artificial Turf Marketing Practices Litigation, MDL 2779, pending in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. Case deals with allegedly defective turf sold and marketed by the company and sold nationwide. Status: Active.
  • 2017: Smith v. Floor and Decor Outlets of America, Inc., in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Class action case dealt with formaldehyde levels of laminate flooring sold nationwide. Status: Settled. Confidential terms.
  • 2017: In re Lumber Liquidators Chinese-Manufactured Laminate Flooring Durability Marketing and Sales Practices Litigation, MDL 2743, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Case dealt with laminate flooring sold nationwide that allegedly failed to meet recognized durability standards. Status: Settled.
  • 2016: In re Windsor Windows Wood Clad Window Products Liability Litigation, MDL 2688, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Case dealt with windows sold nationwide that allegedly permitted water intrusion. Status: Settled.
