Antitrust
Competition in the marketplace provides Americans with the best price for goods and services. However, when competitors work together, they can inflate prices, causing consumers to suffer. Federal and state antitrust laws seek to protect economic freedom and promote fair competition by prohibiting businesses from engaging in anti-competitive conduct.
At Whitfield Bryson LLP, our attorneys look out for consumers and help them fight back against corporations that engage in illegal antitrust conduct. We have served as leaders in many large antitrust litigations, and continue to fight on behalf of consumers to this day.
Some of the antitrust cases our attorneys are currently working on include:
Rail Freight Fuel Surcharges
Whitfield Bryson LLP is Co-Lead Counsel representing indirect purchasers of rail freight services in a proposed class action alleging four of the nation’s largest rail freight transportation service providers conspired to fix prices for fuel surcharges. The case is currently on appeal in the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, where the parties are disputing the application of the federal preemption doctrine to plaintiffs’ antitrust and consumer protection claims.
