Workers Compensation

All jobs come with risks. However, some jobs come with more risks than others. Because of this, employers are required to subscribe to workers’ compensation. Workers’ compensation is a type of insurance for employees. Workers pay into the system, and they can receive compensation for injuries sustained on the job. While this seems like a very simple system, the reality is many regulations can make filing a workers’ compensation claim and receiving benefits incredibly difficult.

Workplace Accidents

Every year, thousands of workers are injured on the job. However, workers’ compensation can provide workers the money they need to get better.

There Are Three Types of Compensation An Injured Workers Can Receive From A Workers Compensation Claim:

  • Income benefits – Injured workers can receive temporary total disability (TTD) or permanent partial disability (PPD). TTD is paid when an injured worker cannot return to work while recovering from their injuries. PPD is paid when a worker sustains a permanent disability. A physician will assign a disability rating that helps determine the amount of the workers’ compensation payout.
  • Medical benefits – Workers’ compensation will pay for all reasonable and necessary medical treatment for the recovery from workplace injuries. This can include lifetime payments for injuries.
  • Vocational rehabilitation benefits – If a worker’s injury prevents them from returning to their usual occupation, they can be awarded compensation to cover the cost of retraining for new types of work.
